Is Oprah’s Dog in Quarantine?

Oprah Gail Winfrey has revealed that her dog has been quarantined due to the coronavirus fear. She has made this revelation in an Instagram Live conducted by the OG Chronicles. Oprah and her friend Gayle King were seen advising their fans.

During this live session, Oprah revealed that her cocker spaniel, Sadie, is being quarantined in her own guest house. Sadie was previously not well and had even visited the vet to get an examination done for an eye infection. She further explained her concern for her pet.

Winfrey’s Concern For Sadie

Oprah also said that she is being extra careful as Sadie also suffered from pneumonia last year. She even interrupted her friend King when she was explaining that pets cannot infect their owners and also made a statement that she heard about a Pug in New York, which infected his owner. She heard about two cats as well. Listening to her, one could easily guess the number of precautions she is taking to stay safe.

During this conversation, she briefly mentioned her illness and stated that she is still recovering. Oprah is keeping an eye on her illness and has already canceled all her plans for the year 2020.

She stated that she was being extra careful and has decided to stay at home for the whole year. Oprah even revealed that she has canceled everything and has agreed not to celebrate O Magazine’s 20th anniversary. Being in a large group is not safe while keeping an eye on this pandemic. Winfrey is being so protective as she has heard the news of a dog who tested weakly positive for the coronavirus and was even quarantined for a few days. She does not want to take a risk with Sadie.

Is It Advisable For Pets To Remain Quarantined?

The AFCD department of Hong Kong even confirmed that repeated test results of the dog suggested it had a low level of the virus. It was considered to be a case of human to animal transmission. However, after some further tests by the World Health Organization, it is confirmed that there is no substantial evidence that pets or any other animal can be a cause for the spread of this virus.

A Final Note

The WHO also advised everyone and even the owners of pets to wash their hands after physical contact with their pets. This precaution is one of the easiest ways to stop the spread of the virus. Oprah’s precautions for both her and Sadie’s safety describe the kind of bond she shares with Sadie. She also made it very clear that one must follow all the rules and regulations which are to stay home and to remain safe and healthy during these difficult times.
