Meet Jaxton

There are people who have learned to love doggos while growing up, and then there are those who were born into dog-loving families just like Jaxton Betschart. When Jaxton was born, their household had around three rescue doggos. They have always had rescue pups and cats, too.

Jaxton grew up loving their rescue doggos, but as he learned more about these fur babies, he started to develop an affinity for pit bulls. Unfortunately, they never had a pittie at home, and since then, Jaxton knew that he wanted to adopt a pit bull someday.

The five-year-old boy’s mother, Elyse Betschart, wanted to fully immerse her son in rescuing puppers. So she always brought Jaxton during their free time to help out in animal shelters. Jaxton likes to call them “cute factories.” Whenever they visit shelters, Jaxton would make sure that he spends time with all the animals. He would wish them luck on getting adopted.

Off To The Cute Factory

One day, Elyse thought of visiting the Charleston Animal Society in South Carolina. She has never been there, so she made the trip along with Jaxton to help out. When they got there, Jaxton saw a pit bull named Penelope, and he insisted that they take her home.

Unfortunately, Elyse explained to her son that since his dad is a marine, they can’t have pit bulls because they are not allowed in base housing. However, there is another way he could help. The Charleston Animal Society explained that they could sponsor Penelope’s adoption fees. That way it would be easier for her to find a forever home.

Jaxton excitedly agreed, pledging part of his allowances to the mission. On their way out, the boy saw another pittie named Tank, and he also pledged to sponsor that pup’s adoption fees. Jaxton’s story was posted on the shelter’s social media account and this led to more sponsorships and adoptions. We hope that someday, this sweet boy will be allowed to adopt a pit bull because he truly deserves it.
