Jack The Dachshund
Jack is a Dachshund who is completely blind. He was a breeder dog. The previous owner didn’t want to take care of a special needs dog so he abandoned the poor pup. Luckily, a rescue group stepped in to give the doggo a second chance.
A woman named Julie saw the post about Jack from Little Paws Dachshund Rescue on social media. She had recently gone eye surgery and was not able to see for three days straight. So Julie knew what it was like to depend on everybody’s help. That’s how she knew that she wanted to adopt the blind doggo.
When Jack first came home with Julie, he was simply afraid of basically everything. The smallest noises inside the house would instantly frighten the pup and make him run and hide under the couch.
The Tactics
So to help the pupper overcome a lot of his fears, he and Julie had a special way of communicating. Before you could pet the doggo, you would have to tell Jack that you are going to touch him so he won’t get startled. When you tell him to be careful, he would know that he needs to slow down to avoid bumping into anything.
This smart pooch was able to learn how things work at home and became braver and stronger. He slowly felt more at ease and showed his hooman how jolly and playful he truly is. Julie even thought that Jack would have no interest in toys, but the pooch proved her wrong!
Obsessed
This doggo is obsessed with toys, especially the squeaky ones. Julie would often hand him a toy and Jack would walk his way through the living room and place the toy on the mat and make it squeak real loud. This is what Julie calls Jack’s Path and she makes sure that nothing is in the way to keep him safe.
Even though Jack is differently-abled than the other dogs, you wouldn’t even notice it because nothing stops him from doing anything that any other doggo can do. He gets to enjoy living his best life every day and gets more than enough love and care from his beloved hooman.
